Digital Marketing Institute DMI Pro Course: Modules, Exam and Cost
The Digital Marketing Institute sells its DMI Pro course to learners around the world, with US pricing in dollars and a US-only dual certificate with the American Marketing Association. Here is what the nine modules cover, how the exam and payment terms work, what the refund policy says, and who should look at other options.
What DMI Pro is
DMI Pro is the Digital Marketing Institute's Professional Diploma in Digital Marketing. People who pass it hold the DMI Certified Digital Marketing Professional (CDMP) certification. DMI says the latest version was rebuilt with AI in all nine modules, cut from ten modules to nine, and adds content on Generative Engine Optimisation (GEO) and AI-powered simulations.[1][3]
The company was founded in 2009 by Ian Dodson and Anthony Quigley. Its terms list Digital Marketing Institute Ltd in Blackrock, Co. Dublin, Ireland. DMI says it partnered with the American Marketing Association between 2018 and 2020 to offer dual certification on core course content.[3][5]
Who it is for
DMI's FAQ says you do not need experience to enroll. The course page lists a wide audience: people responsible for online marketing, anyone pursuing a digital marketing career, marketing executives, coordinators and assistants, brand managers, copywriters and content creators, media planners and buyers, analysts, marketing managers, consultants, and entrepreneurs and small-business owners.[1]
Because the course touches every major channel in a short time, it suits people who need a structured map of digital marketing: career changers, generalist marketers and business owners who manage outside agencies. Specialists who already run search or social campaigns every day may learn less from it.
The nine modules

The first module shows the level of detail. Its topics are the AI era of digital marketing, traditional versus digital marketing, responsible use of AI, digital channels, SMART objectives, market research, AI for competitor research, industry and trend analysis, and customer insight, and the buyer's journey and customer experience.[1]
How the learning and the exam work
The course is self-directed and delivered online on DMI's MyDMI platform, with live webinars, community forums and tutor support. You get access as soon as you pay, but your official start date is the first day of the following month.[1][3]
You have up to 24 weeks to finish, and DMI says most students complete the course in 8 to 10 weeks. At about 22 hours of content, that is roughly two to three hours a week before practice and exam preparation.[1]
The exam lasts two hours and has 120 items in three sections, using multiple-choice, matching and drag-and-drop questions. You need at least 60% to pass. The first attempt is included in the price. A re-sit costs about 75 euros or the local-currency equivalent. DMI's terms say exams are computer-based on MyDMI, candidates must be at least 18, and you need a valid government-issued ID with a photo and a signature.[1][3]
The course page says enrolling makes you a DMI Professional Member with access to premium resources, and its list of what is included is headed 6 months free with all courses. DMI's certification page says members record Continuing Professional Development (CPD) credits to keep their skills and certification valid. We did not find what membership costs after the free period on the pages we checked.[1][4]
In extenuating circumstances, DMI's terms allow a deferral or a leave of absence of up to three months, at DMI's discretion, once all payments are up to date.[3]
Price, payment plans and refunds
| Option (US pricing, September 30, 2026) | Price shown |
|---|---|
| DMI Pro, pay in full | $2,175 list; $1,523 with a 30% promotion |
| DMI Pro, payment plan | 3 installments of $508 a month during the promotion |
| DMI Pro AMA (US only) | $2,175 list; $1,523 with the same promotion |
| Exam re-sit | About 75 euros or the local-currency equivalent |
DMI's terms say payments are processed in Ireland, so ask your bank about foreign transaction fees. If you choose an installment plan, you commit to paying every installment. If you miss agreed payments, you can be withdrawn from the program and lose access, and the fees paid up to then are non-refundable.[3]
Refunds follow a 14-day cooling-off period that starts on the purchase date. You request a refund by email, and DMI says it refunds the original payment method within 14 days of the request. No refunds are issued after the 14 days.[3]
Limitations to weigh
- DMI says DMI Pro is credit rated by the Scottish Qualifications Authority and equal to Level 5 in the UK system. The pages do not describe any US college credit.
- The provider is an Irish company, and payments are processed in Ireland.
- The refund window is 14 days from purchase, even if you have not started the course.
- Re-sit fees are quoted in euros.
- Self-paced study needs self-discipline; without a schedule it is easy to drift past the 24-week limit.
- A certificate alone rarely shows what you can do. Employers also look at real campaigns, so build a small portfolio while you study.
- Any course can change its modules and prices, so read the current page before you pay.
Alternatives and next steps
- DMI Pro AMA: the US-only version pairs the course with the American Marketing Association's Professional Certified Marketer (PCM) in Digital Marketing. DMI's terms say dual certification applies to US, Mexican and Canadian residents, and your personal information is shared with the AMA to deliver it.
- DMI's advanced courses: the course page points to DMI Specialist in Digital Strategy and Leadership, DMI Expert, a Postgraduate Diploma, and an MSc in Digital Marketing with BPP University.
Other routes include instructor-led university extension courses with graded work, and shorter courses that focus on a single channel. Whichever you compare, ask the same questions: how many hours of content, whether anyone grades your work, what the credential is called, and the full cost including re-sits and renewals.
