What opting out changes

In the United States, you can use the control on this page to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information. After you select Do Not Sell or Share:

• New advertisements are requested with Google’s restricted data processing. Advertisements may still appear, but they are not personalized based on your information.
• We stop sending advertising-interaction measurements to Google Ads and Google Analytics.
• Basic Google Analytics statistics may continue with Google signals and ad personalization turned off.
• The site keeps working normally. A short functional session in your browser still lets an eligible visit continue from a guide’s introduction to its full guide.

Your choice applies from the moment you make it. It does not undo earlier processing, remove an advertisement that is already displayed, or send measurements that were skipped if you later allow processing again.

Global Privacy Control

If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, we treat it as an opt-out. The control on this page then shows your opt-out and cannot switch it off while the signal is being sent.

Saving your choice

Your choice is saved in this browser’s storage for this site only. It applies to the browser and device you are using now, and clearing your browser storage removes it. If your browser blocks storage, the choice applies to the current page only, and the status above tells you so.

Other regions

Outside the United States, or when your country cannot be determined, the site does not load advertising or Google measurement and does not store anything in your browser, so there is nothing to opt out of.

Without JavaScript

If JavaScript is turned off, the site does not load any advertising or analytics, and this control cannot save a choice. Guides and links still work.
