Ford Credit financing: purchase options, applying and what special APR offers mean

Independent guideUpdated

Ford Credit is Ford's own auto finance company, financing new, used and certified used Fords through Ford dealers for US shoppers who want to buy with dealer financing.

For purchases, it lists a Standard Purchase with a fixed rate and 12- to 84-month terms, and Flex Buy, a new-vehicle contract with lower payments for the first three years.

When we checked Ford Credit's pages on September 30, 2026, it did not publish a standard APR range; your rate is set when you apply. Ford's own guide says captive finance companies may offer low APRs to well-qualified buyers, and that offers change during the year.

This is an independent guide. We are not a lender, we do not take applications, and this is not financial advice: Ford Credit decides whether you are approved and what rate you get. Use it to decide whether a Ford Credit offer is worth comparing with your bank or credit union.

What you'll learn

  • How Standard Purchase and Flex Buy differ from a Red Carpet Lease
  • What prequalifying and a full application each mean for your credit
  • How to read a special APR or bonus cash offer and its conditions
  • What the First-Time Buyer program requires

Who it suits

  • Shoppers buying a new, used or certified used Ford at a Ford dealer who want to weigh its financing against other offers
  • Buyers who qualify for a current Ford Credit special APR or bonus cash offer on their model
  • First-time buyers who meet the program's job, down payment and 620 FICO requirements
  • Applicants without a Social Security number, since Ford Credit accepts an ITIN

Check before you decide

  • No standard APR range was published on the pages we checked; you learn your rate only after applying.
  • Special offers change during the year, not all buyers qualify, and Ford Credit bonus cash requires Ford Credit financing.
  • Flex Buy is new-vehicle only, its payment rises from month 37, and it is not offered in Maine, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Virginia or Washington, D.C.
  • The online application is for personal-use vehicles, runs a hard credit inquiry and is handled through the Ford dealer you select.
