UC Berkeley Extension's digital marketing sequence: four courses, prerequisites and cost
UC Berkeley Extension's Professional Sequence in Digital Marketing is a four-course, graded program for people with some marketing background who want structured training in digital channels and analytics.
Finishing all four courses with a C or better earns an Award of Completion, which is a shorter credential than Extension's full Certificate Program in Marketing.
The required courses are Digital Marketing, Strategic Marketing Analytics, Social Media Marketing Strategies and Marketing Data Visualization, 90 hours of instruction in all. Before you start, the program asks for Marketing Management or equivalent knowledge and Excel skills. Extension estimates the course fees at $3,800, not counting materials or the registration fee.

Check before you decide
- It is a four-course sequence with an Award of Completion, not Extension's full marketing certificate and not a degree. It does not guarantee a job, promotion or salary.
- Complete beginners may first need Marketing Management, which adds a course and its fee.
- When we checked, two of the four required courses had no open section. Spring 2027 enrollment opens October 19, 2026.
- The $3,800 estimate leaves out textbooks and the registration fee. Extension students cannot use FAFSA federal aid or VA education benefits.
